About the Master Naturalist Program

To develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to actively work toward stewardship of Idaho’s natural environment.

What is the Idaho Master Naturalist Program?

In 2007 the Idaho Department of Fish and Game created the Idaho Master Naturalist Program, patterned after the successful Master Gardener Programs and Master Naturalist Programs in other states. It provides naturalist training to volunteers, and a mechanism to provide service to the Fish and Game and other similarly missioned organizations.

Goals of the Master Naturalist Program:

  • Increase public knowledge of natural resources, ecology, conservation, and natural resource management.
  • Enhance existing efforts toward conservation in Idaho.
  • Create and foster partnerships between natural resource agencies, organizations, and citizens.

A certified Master Naturalist has completed a rigorous training course and volunteer service. Are you interested in becoming an Idaho Master Naturalist??
